Edson Fernandes

edson1.jpg

Edson Fernandes' paintings radiate a dynamic playfulness, brought to life through vibrant colors that echo his free spirit. The movement and fluidity in his work reflect his deep-rooted background in dance, a discipline he has dedicated much of his life to. Beginning with classical dance and later moving into contemporary styles, Fernandes infuses his visual art with a dancer's sensitivity to rhythm and motion. His pieces evoke the spontaneity and joy of play, reminding viewers of its essential presence at every age.

Incorporating elements from his linguistic passion, Fernandes often hides phrases in Portuguese, Spanish, French, or English within his paintings, adding a layer of mystery and expression. Language, for him, is as much a medium as paint, allowing each work to resonate on multiple levels.

Originally born in São Paulo, Brazil, Fernandes relocated to Uberaba in Minas Gerais, where he resides today. As a child, his love for literature and language led him to self-teach several languages, shaping a lifelong connection to words and storytelling that continues to influence his art.
